Tuesday Already???
Sunday, August 22, 2010
So this year we are going to study the Promises of God. I love dwelling on His promises because He is faithful. It's especially GOOD to know this when I am unfaithful...but I am covered by the shed blood of Jesus, forgiven, not condemned.
After Church, we went by the Post Rd house to check it and get the mail. The house has been broken into twice. They stole a lot of our contractor's tools. Amazing how the human heart works! Now we have securely braced doors, etc. The only way anyone could break in now will be to break a window. Some one has taken a key from one of the doors at some point. There have been so many work people we do not know in and out of our home since the flood, it's no wonder this has happened.
Anyone have a mean Doberman we could use to guard ? GRRRRRRR WOULD SCARE THEM OFF.
I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. What are you doing?John is reading, CC is watching me and BC...well, I don't know what he is up to. BC, come out, come out wherever you are.Love and blessings,Mom/Meme/Linda

What's up with you this Saturday?
What's everybody doing today?I've been cleaning house and washing clothes all morning, listened to my One Year Audio Bible, that I've shared with you if you want to listen each day, and just sat down to blog. My how life changes with all these technical vehicles.Speaking of technical vehicles, I've also been trying to learn my new phone. My Blackberry scroll ball stopped working, so I now have a Droid Verizon. I think I am challenged by this phone. I'm going to win! A quick trip to Verizon will fix me right up.Rest of my day will be a trip to Costco and Verizon. Maybe we will eat out for lunch AND dinner. :)Have a wonderful day and I love you!Love and Blessings,Mom/Meme/Linda

...there is nothing left to tolerate
By Chris Daniel
Chris Daniels says, "What About Tolerance?
With all this talk about different worldviews failing to fit reality, you might wonder what happened to tolerance. It sure doesn't sound tolerant, does it? But what is tolerance?
Our modern notion of tolerance is that you can't say that someone else's beliefs are wrong. If you do, you are being intolerant. But that is not what tolerance has always meant. The historic meaning of tolerance is that you should be willing to live peacefully and respectfully with those you believe, and even say, are wrong.
If you think about it, our modern "redefined" understanding of tolerance doesn't even make sense. If you can't say something is wrong or false, there is nothing left to tolerate.
But even more than this, our modern understanding of tolerance undercuts itself. It does the very thing that it claims ought not to be done. It says, essentially, that it is wrong for you to say that someone else is wrong. This, of course, fails the Test of Logical Consistency, and thus cannot be an approach that fits reality.
The historic meaning of tolerance is actually a reflection of the teaching of Jesus himself, and this is how we ought to approach others and the worldviews they hold."

Taking time to see, hear, meditate...
If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

Sweet Nothings....
I've been watching this precious robin build a nest outside my door all morning. My cat, BC, is jumping like crazy up on the glass door trying to get her.
She's probably been at work since the sun came up and here I am still in my pj's having coffee. (8:00 AM)
I started thinking about endearments yesterday. I findd it interesting the way our hearts are filled with special words for special people in our lives. It's not enough to just call them by name. We use words like
Sweetie, and the list could go on and on.
Dear One,
Precious,
Honey,
Darling,
My Bride,
Princess,
Pookey,
Gooby/Goober,
Sweetheart,
I know a guy that called his wife an 'endearing' Dummie. I'm not sure I would like that one.
I thought about the way we are made in God's image. He also has endearing words he has called us. Let's look at some of the ways he calls your name.
Apple of my eye,and He is going to give us a new name when we get to Heaven. Did you know that? Listen to this:
My Beloved,
My Bride,
My children, My Child,
Friend,
Brother/Sister,
Saint
Rev 2:17 ...And I will give to each one a white stone, and on the stone will be engraved a new name that no one understands except the one who receives it. (Now that will be a dear, dear secret!)
Now while we can call our endearments to each other Sweet Nothings...His endearments to us are Sweet Everythings!
Share with me more of God's endearments to us. I'm sure I have left many out.
Send me your pet names to your loved ones.
Let me know if I can share with the rest of the group.
Now it is 11 AM Divine interruptions!
Blessings and love,

He Remains Faithful...
Good morning,
Are we like the little child that sits when his father tells him to "sit down"!, but on the inside heis screaming, "I may be sitting on the outside, but I'm standing on the INSIDE!"
Here are the 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit. We've gone through love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, and the last devotion was goodness. If you want to read any of the past blogs on the Fruit of the Spirit, you will find them on the right side of the blog archive.
1.Love
2.Joy
3.Peace
4.Longsuffering
5.Kindness
6.Goodness
7.Faithfulness
8.Gentleness
9.Self-control
Here are what some of the different Bible dictionaries and commentaries have to say about Faithfulness:
1.Fidelity which makes one true to his promise and faithful to his task
2.Steadfast, dedicated, dependable and worthy of trust
3.Steadfast, unchanging and thoroughly grounded in relation to the other
4.Dependability, loyalty and stability
He will expect us to stay loyal and faithful to all of them in our own personal relationships with them. A true friend will stay by your side for life – through thick and thin and for better or for worse. Just as God will stay faithful to you in His own personal relationship with you – He will expect us to stay loyal and faithful in our own personal relationships with the other people in our life.
With the self-centered and materialistic world in which we now live in, where many people’s only goals and ambitions are to get as much as they can out of this life while they still can – I am afraid this is one quality that is in very short supply. Most people are lucky if they manage to make 2 or 3 good, true, loyal and faithful friends in this lifetime.
This is one quality that God the Father is really watching all of us on. He is watching who is going to stay true, loyal and faithful to Him – and who will stay true, loyal and faithful to the friends and family that are brought into our lives.
The flesh is strong – especially in the area of wanting to satisfy its lust for the material things of this life. This is why this quality is one of the 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit. We all need the faithfulness of the Holy Spirit worked into us to help us keep loyal to God, family and friends.
Romans 3:3 "What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God?"
2 Timothy 2:13 "if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself."

Too GOOD To Be True...
You've heard the expression before, "too GOOD to be true"? Fact is, that it's usually true.
There is one exception for sure. That exception is that God's 'GOODNESS' brings us to repentance. Makes us change our minds, turn the other way, and walk towards Him instead of whatever it is we have been following.
Our own desires?
These desires always fall under either Lust of the flesh, Lust of the eyes, or Pride of life. It is very plain that these desires are not of God, but they are of this world. The three are really all we can produce outside of God working his Spirit up and through our own unique personalities.
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 1 John 2:15-16We are looking at the next Fruit of the Spirit...GOODNESS.
(From Bible Knowledge.com)
Now here are some of the different definitions of what this quality is all about:
1.Beneficence, ready to do good, love in action
2.Kindness in actual manifestation, virtue equipped for action, a bountiful propensity both to will and to do what is good, intrinsic goodness producing a generosity and a Godlike state or being
3.The word beneficence means the fact or quality of being kind or doing good
It's hard to imagine that someone is so good that the thought of even trying to manipulate you or use you to their own personal gain could ever even enter their minds. They truly do not think that way. It's hard to imagine because it is impossible to do unless that person is letting God work His goodness up through their personalities. Then it's not too good to be true.
Goodness has 'DRAWING POWER'. Remember that it is God's GOODNESS that draws you to repentance.
Romans 2:4 (Amplified Bible)Think about that one. If it is God's Goodness that draws one to Him and He is working His goodness up and out of your personality then you, my dear Spirit-Filled friend, are drawing others to God and all the glory goes to God.
4b... Are you unmindful or actually ignorant [of the fact] that God's kindness (goodness) is intended to lead you to repent ([a]to change your mind and inner man to accept God's will)?
Alleluia! What a Saviour
Love you,

A Little...
A little tired...
A little regretful...
A little overwhelmed...
A little sleepy...
A little preoccupied...
Add all the little up and it is not so little.
It's been a trying day, but all is in God's hand
so there you go!
When He is for us, Who can be against us?
When He can never be second guessed,
why would I ever feel overwhelmed or regretful?
Because I'm human.
I tell my soul as David did,
"Why are you restless?",
"Be still, rest as a weaned child..."
I'm going to tickle my little granddaughters back now
helping her to rest...as God helps me to rest.
I'd love to have my back tickled too.
AAH...that's better, good night. :)
Have a good night's sleep.

Shhhhhh...they will hear you!
When I was a little girl I believed so much in fairies that I would be careful where I walked. You didn't want to step on a beautiful fairie sleeping under a leaf, flower, or mushroom. And of course, you could never speak loudly or they would hear your secret, go and tell it to someone.
I can just see me and Brenda, my twin sister, whispering to each other...giggling so that the fairies would not hear us.
I guess you can't take the little girl out of me even though all grown up?!
I thank God for imaginations, fairy tales, and butterflies...you surely know that is how they travel, right?
Love you all,
Mom/Meme/Linda

and it will carry your desire to the Great Spirit to be granted.
Having given this sweet creature to the Universe,
your wishes will be fulfilled in return."

'GENTLY' back on board...
Dear Loved ones,
I'm excited tonight for some reason. I've been sluggish all day long, so it's about time to have a little life starting to stir in myself.
I want to get back to the devotions I started with you back in the Spring on the Fruit of the Spirit.
It's a great study.
It is IMPORTANT to God for us to know HIS attributes.
It is what HE wants to do through us.
Think about that! Goodness, Gracious! Why would he want to pour out His attributes into these shallow, cracked, ugly, dirty, vessels of clay??? He so much is Not our way of thinking...Alleluia!!
I wouldn't pour anything into myself if it were me...for that matter, I wouldn't pour anything as beautiful as He is into a lot of people I know. I would think that I or they would just mess up a good thing and ruin said reputation. Ha...see how different we think from the way God thinks. I'm assuming that someone else out there feels the same way I do.
Having said that so gently and kindly, let's look at some attributes of kindness (gentleness). That is our Fruit for today.
(from Bible knowledge.com)
"Here are some of the different definitions of what real kindness is all about:
1/ Quality or state of being kind
2/ The steadfast love that maintains relationships through gracious aid in times of need
3/ Goodness of heart, serviceable, good, gracious, pleasant
4/ Love for mankind, hospitality, acts of kindness, readiness to help, human friendship, benevolence, taking thought of others
5/ Goodness in action, sweetness of disposition, gentleness in dealing with others, affability
6/ The ability to act for the welfare of those taxing your patience " (oooouch, I feel that one!)
Listen to this verse...then listen again.
Gentleness (kindness) -- We should live "in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left" (2 Corinthians 6:6-7).
We all know someone that we could honestly say has any one or several of these attributes: They could be lovely, joyful, peaceful, long suffering, gentle (kind), good, faithful, meek (enduring injury with patience and without resentment : mild) and practice temperance people.
They also could not even know the Lord Jesus. They are just simply nice people we enjoy being around.
There has to be a difference! God has distinctly made it clear that this one nine fold fruit is from HIM and that we cannot nor will not be able to produce it.
Maybe the difference is people's reaction. If it is from Him we will be drawn to Him eventually through contact with this spirit filled person. If it is a personality of someone then we are drawn to her or him. Is that the difference? What do you think?
The word “Spirit” is with a capital “S” – which means these 9 fruits are coming directly from the Holy Spirit, not from us.
What this means is that God’s love, God’s peace, God’s joy and God’s goodness can start to be transmitted up into our personality. These are His attributes and personality qualities that will start to move into the core of our personality.
Think about the ramifications of this – that God the Father Himself is allowing us to share in a part of His divine nature by allowing His Holy Spirit to transmit and impart these nine divine qualities right up into our soul and personality!
As you can see from some of these different definitions, this is a very beautiful quality to have transmitted up into your soul and personality by the Holy Spirit. Not only will you be able to touch others with this godly quality, but you will also be able to touch yourself – because you will feel so much better about yourself if you can learn how to treat others with much more kindness and respect in your daily dealings and affairs with them.
Think about that...then think about it again. Have you ever had to minister to yourself? David did over and over.
I love you all!!
Blessings,
Mom/Meme/Linda
